Psalm: 51
Meditation: Lam
When you hear the name Lamentations you could anticipate a sad message. This book starts after the fall of Jerusalem with the plight of the city and its people. Contrasting this with the beauty and heights from which both the city and its people fell, Jeremiah points out the irony of their self-inflicted wounds. Using poetic language, the people had lived pleasant lives, became careless and vile and an example to their enemies that mocked and plundered them.
