What is true sorrow and remorse? Jeremiah lists outward actions of mourning in that society, and the effects of their poverty. Even at this time, false prophets prey on those suffering and lead them in the wrong direction. While their enemies mock and laugh at their plight, there are hints that there is a way back toward righteousness and the return of the captives taken in the fall of Jerusalem.
