Meditation: Ex
Two things become apparent in this passage and will continue as themes:  1) The arrogance of the pharaohs which cause their hardness of heart and head that will lead to their downfall. 2) The propensity of the Israelites to turn away from the true God of Abraham and run back to their slavery and sin rather than trust God and His prophecies. Students of Egyptian Mythology will begin to see God mocking the gods of Egypt with each successive interaction and plague.
