Astonished describes the reaction of people towards Jesus’s works as an  unschooled Rabbi or teacher. Jesus is also amazed at the unbelief in His works and ministry. The second part of this passage shows Jesus sharing His ministry and power with His disciples, sending them out to preach the good news, heal and cast out demons. The seriousness of this endeavor is apparent in the curse on those rejecting the future apostles.
