Who was this high king of peace and a priest mentioned in Genesis, Psalms and here again in Hebrews? Why did Abraham give him a 10th of his possession? Much of this passage discusses the functions of priests under the Levitical system, and their inadequacy of filling God’s requirements. Jesus’ life shows His qualifications to be our eternal high priest and intercessor.
