John, like many prophets before him, suffers and is placed in prison. Even though John had pronounced to the world that Jesus was the Messiah, he sent  some of his disciples to verify Jesus’ status. John’s disciples become witnesses of what Jesus was doing in His ministry. Jesus fulfilled prophecies that Isaiah spoke 700 years before.
