While people and societies also hold people accountable for what they have or haven’t done. Jesus instead focuses on an individual’s desires or intent. This higher standard weighs all of a person’s actions against the desire or heart. Can you think of other examples of Jesus describing seemingly righteous behavior as possibly sinful?
