Why is the Lord’s prayer prefaced by warnings of how not to pray? The Lord’s Prayer starts with the term “Our Father”. Can you imagine calling the all knowing God of the universe Daddy, in a society that wouldn’t pronounce or spell God’s name lest you violate the third commandment. If God knows our needs and desires before we ask, what is the purpose of prayer and the danger of taking prayer for granted?
