Jesus died, abandoned by all His disciples but John. We are told that some of His female followers and supporters were observing from afar. Joseph of Aramathea gets permission from Gov Pilate to collect and bury Jesus’s body. Due to Jewish law he had only 3 hours to collect, prepare, wrap and bury Jesus in a tomb prepared for himself before the Sabbath at sunset. Joseph most likely also put his status with the Jewish leadership at risk by his actions.
