Psalm: 106:1-18

Meditation: 1 Samuel
Mankind always prefers a god or leader that they can see or identify with. The people are willing to take the added costs (i.e., taxes and being subject to the orders and whims of a man). Remember, this did not catch God off guard. Hundreds of years before, God gave rules for a king to live by in Deuteronomy 17:14-20, specifying not only the prerequisites for a kingly person, but also the conduct that they must keep to.
