You can gain quite a bit of context by reading multiple accounts of the same event. Here in Luke’s gospel, we learn that the overwhelming weight of others’ sins has affected Jesus and an angel is sent to strengthen him. The traditional Jewish custom was to pray standing up but we learn that Jesus had knelt down in this Olive Grove to pray.
