Psalm: 92

Pentecost

Meditation

John: Jesus is qualifying in whom His Spirit will dwell. Jesus’ principal commands are to love God and to love our neighbor. Those commands are more in the nature of activities of the soul (heart) than the physical activity of work. Jesus’ promise to send His Spirit is contingent on Jesus’ ascension to the Father. Pentecost is often referred to as the “Birthday” of the Church. It, along with the Annunciation (March 25), and Easter, rank as the chief holy days in the Church calendar.

Gospel:

John 14:21-29

New Testament:

1 Corinthians 2:1-13

Old Testament:

Isaiah 11:1-9
