Psalm: 146
Meditation
Luke: Remember: this sinful woman is unnamed. In John’s gospel, she is identified as the sister of Lazarus. This unnamed woman may or may not be the same person, and if her name is Mary, that just opens another “can of worms”. Since Luke was fastidious in detail, the omission of the woman’s name seems intentional. No matter – all of the above becomes dust in our eyes intended only to cloud the point: she was repentant for her sins and Jesus forgave them. Jesus does not “count” the number of our sins, His mission is simply(!) to forgive them.
