Meditation

Luke: This scene is toward the beginning of Jesus’ ministry for here he chose His 12 Apostles (or “sent ones”) and then launches into his sermon on a “level place” (as opposed to a mount as found in Matthew 5). Point is, like Moses, Jesus talks of blessings and curses (woes), especially to those who are “all set”. (see Deut. 28 for Moses’ version). All of us should strive to be poor in spirit, ever in need of God’s filling.
