1 John: Here John explains what it means to love our brothers – not with words so much as by actions and, in truth, this passage echoes what James says in his epistle in verses 2:14-26. Love involves more than just words it demands actions often using no words at all. “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to do lay down our lives for our brothers.” (v. 16)
