Psalm: 57

Meditation

Jonah: Why Jonah? Wasn’t he that rather depressing OT prophet who hated the Ninevites (Assyrians) generally regarded as the vilest of all people? As you know Jonah was thrown overboard (to save the rest on the ship – one life for the many) and was then swallowed by a “great” fish (let’s say a giant shark) and was in its belly for 3 days & 3 nights. He disobeyed the LORD’s command to warn the people of Nineveh’s impending doom unless they repented of their evil ways. This prayer shows his change of heart.

Gospel:

John 14:1-14

New Testament:

Acts 2:14, 22-32

Old Testament:

Jonah 2:1-9
