Jeremiah:  Jeremiah’s prayer here opens much like Psalm 73 – the wicked thrive whereas the righteous do not. The people of his own hometown threaten to kill him if he continues to prophesy in the LORD’s name. Jesus endured the same threat of death while preaching in Nazareth (Luke 4). God promises to settle accounts – or as Jesus puts it “It will be better for Sodom & Gomorrah on that day for …” (Luke 10:12)
