Genesis: This is the first portrayal of the act of redemption – one life sacrificed in place of another. Centuries later on Calvary this same scene will be carried out only this time it will be God’s only Son – one perfect life offered for many imperfect ones. “Now I know you fear God,” the LORD tells Abraham but the whole exercise was to show Abraham that he himself feared God.
