Romans: Which to choose – Jeremiah and his figs, John’s account of the man born blind, or the age-old question posed in Romans 9 – why are we held accountable if no one can resist His (God’s) will? The Roman passage is the most difficult so let’s go. Arrogance is not limited to Jews. Here the Gentile are being warned against being “all set” as we say. This attitude spelled Israel’s downfall – that is the path of complacency.
