Meditation

John: Three times in just two verses Jesus utters “I am” but not in the “meaningful” way (I am the way…, I am the gate… etc.) but rather “I am from above; I am not of this world; I am the one I claim to be.” I presume the punch of these declarations is lessened in both Greek and Aramaic as opposed to their sacredness in Hebrew. Still, He is making declarations here intended to shake up His hearers. Jesus is only doing all that the Father tells him to do.
