Psalms: 22, 95

Meditation

Romans: This is a passage about the importance death plays in our lives. The verb tenses used here (in English) throughout (when speaking of death) are all in the past whereas the tense used with “life” is in the present. Because we’re so tied to our bodily experience, it then becomes harder to believe the reality that we “are alive to God in Christ Jesus” (v. 11) but this is precisely what Lent is all about: it leads us through the Cross to Resurrection.

Gospel:

John 8:33-47

New Testament:

Romans 6:1-11

Old Testament:

Jer. 11:1-8,14-20
