Jeremiah: The LORD refers to the house of Jacob as foolish and senseless which can neither see nor hear. More hardening of hearts – much as we saw in Pharaoh in Egypt, oddly with a similar result – death and destruction. The people won’t listen to God’s prophets but rather to the false prophets who tell them what they want to hear. God wants his people to see their sin and tremble before him in repentance. For this they jail Jeremiah.
