John: Points to remember: 1) Jesus was in Samaria; the clean among the “unclean”. 2) Jesus was speaking to a woman – respectable rabbis did not converse with women. This particular woman, not to put too fine a point on it, was of a shady character. And 3) She spreads the words of Jesus and the men of Sychar believe her. 4) Jesus stays there in that “leprosy-laden” (unclean) place for another 2 days.
