Meditation

John: Still “manifesting”: this time it is John (the baptizer) who identifies Jesus as the Son of God, not only so, but that Jesus is also the Lamb of God. Lambs are significant at Passover (always near Easter) for it was the blood of specific lambs that adorned the doorposts and lintels Jewish homes in Egypt that the angel of death would “pass over” – thus sparing the Jews. John then tells us that Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit.
