Mark: The opening conundrum, I think, was intended to excite some thinking among that ilk called lawyers, scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees – the Jewish thinkers of that time. Jesus knew full well, as far as the Messiah (Himself) was concerned, it was a case of “both/and”. Jesus was, quite literally, a son of David and we also know, as He was Son of God He would then be David’s Lord. As for the poor widow, she put her last penny where her mouth was. Would we?
