2 Timothy: Timothy must have been quite young when he received this letter for Paul refers to his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. The faith was given him by these women and then later by Paul. Paul was in prison in Rome awaiting his day before the emperor and his own death. Search through this letter – you won’t find a hint of fear from Paul regarding his impending fate. His principal concern for Timothy (whom he regarded as a son in the faith) was that he “hold to the standard of sound teaching” (v. 13) given him by Paul.
