Psalms: 8, 11

Meditation

Isaiah: Rejoice is a key word here for this reading quite literally begins with that word in 61:10 and closes in 62:5 also using the same word. The image of a blissful marriage also begins and ends the reading. The day (or period) described here must be our tenure in heaven – all of God’s glory will be manifest beginning with righteousness. The new name mentioned in 62:2 is revisited in Revelation, first to Jesus, and later to the faithful who will have Jesus’ name on their foreheads.

Gospel:

Mark 10:46-52

New Testament:

2 Timothy 4:1-8

Old Testament:

Isaiah 61:10—62:5
