Psalm: 18
Meditation
2 Timothy: Paul’s rather grim assessment of people in the last days is nothing short of sobering. Vast swaths of the world are out seeking pleasure and all those other attributes listed here. The one exception I see is “holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power.” (v. 5) These are not Christians because “denying its power” is an obvious lack of faith. Oh, BTW it is not just silly women who are captivated by false teachers… (v. 6) As it states later, this is a “counterfeit faith” (v. 8) He goes on to say that persecution and suffering are to be expected. When he says “the Lord rescued” him, he may mean that God granted him contentment.
