Isaiah: So much of what is said here is echoed or paraphrased by Jesus. (Forgive my own bias, but this reading is rendered far more eloquently by the KJV.) For someone who would never experience Christ in his life, Isaiah gives us a thumbnail sketch of Jesus’ ministry in vv. 6-7, all the benefits which God desires for everyone has but one requirement: repentance. But look at what one gets in return. Sell all that you have to gain the “pearl of great price”. (Matt. 13:46)
