Psalm: 66

Meditation

Isaiah: The Jews of Isaiah’s day, not unlike Christians today, had a tendency not to be faithful. The early part of chapter 51 speaks of judgment and then we come to verse 17. The tone here changes from one of judgment to one of reconciliation. The LORD, like any good parent, may, from time to time, see the need to discipline His child but not at the cost of complete alienation. Verse 17 and to the end of the chapter, Isaiah speaking as prophet, seeks to assure all of us that God will not abandon us.

Gospel:

Mark 7:24-37

New Testament:

Galatians 4:1-11

Old Testament:

Isaiah 51:17-23
