Psalm: 22
Meditation
Ephesians: It appears the Fifth Commandment is viewed now as a two-way street. We usually read that as children to parents (and it is), but here Paul advises parents not to provoke their children. The tricky part is to “bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (v. 4) That must be something like walking a tight rope, especially as the child grows into adolescence. Paul next talks about lip-service. Isaiah urged against such a practice. (Isaiah 29:13) Do all service as to the Lord with a genuine heart.
