Psalm: 45
Meditation
Ephesians: So, this is a prayer. I can tell because Paul said, “I bow my knees…” (v. 14) He is praying for his hearers (and in our case his readers) “that you may have power to comprehend… and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (vv. 18, 19) In many respects, God is incomprehensible. St. Anselm (late 10th century) spent many hours, perhaps years, hoping to convey to us that our minds are severely limited when it comes to God. To sum him up (perhaps crudely): if you can imagine God then your god is too small. The same here, but you will have all eternity to “comprehend”.
