Psalm: 88

Meditation

Mark: Jesus is in the midst of choosing His disciples; this time it was Levi (Matthew) who was being called. The only flaw here is that Levi was a tax collector. I hope we all appreciate that tax collectors for Rome meant collaborators. That put the tax man in the same company with the likes of a Samaritan (half-breed) or even a leper or prostitute. It might actually be a draw among these types as to which was worst. Still, Jesus chose him.

Gospel:

Mark 2:13-22

New Testament:

Ephesians 3:1-13

Old Testament:

Isaiah 42:1-17
