Genesis: Significant ministries have been started later in life – Abram was 70 when he was called out of the city of Ur, Sarai was 90 when she became pregnant with Isaac, a lovely prospect. Is it any wonder that Abraham fell down “in obeisance”, laughing and thus we have the genesis of Isaac’s name which means “he laughs”? It seems God was not joking (since He was the one Who had named Isaac). If, like Abraham, we consider the appearance of things, it would be natural to laugh at such a notion.
