Psalms: 32, 36

Meditation

Isaiah: I am no particular fan of poetry, but the opening line Isaiah gives ranks rather high in terms of beauty. The shoot springing forth from the stump (root KJV) of Jesse is none other than Jesus. The picture here is something like the Garden of Eden and of the restored nature after Christ’s victory in the last battle with Satan. The bucolic/pastoral image includes animals. Our limited and relatively unimaginative minds cannot contain nor apprehend what things God has in store for His elect.

Gospel:

John 5:30-47

New Testament:

Revelation 20:1-10

Old Testament:

Isaiah 11:1-9
