2 Peter: Happy Advent to these people! Many unbelievers bear the attributes which Peter ascribes to them. I wonder why this passage is chosen for this time of year unless to bring encouragement to those of us who happily wade through this “second Advent”. Reference is made to Noah who antedates Abraham by many centuries – a rather long wait for Messiah. Noah’s advent ended for him at his death; he was found to be obedient and faithful. We are called to no less—to be obedient and faithful without regard as to how long it may be for our own advent to end!
