Psalms: 26, 30

Meditation

Ephesians: The prevalent “nice” gospel does not show up here. Remember, we are players (soldiers, warriors etc.) during this second Advent. Jesus came, as Isaiah said, to be the “Prince of Peace” though He Himself said “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace but a sword.” (Matt. 10:34) So, here we have described for us a soldier, clearly not decked out for peace, but for war. The equipment provided to us by God is defensive and not offensive. We need to be faithful and obedient – let God do the rest.

Gospel:

John 3:16-21

New Testament:

Ephesians 6:10-20

Old Testament:

Isaiah 42:1-12
