Psalm: 68

Meditation

2 Peter: I confess, I have never met St. Peter, well, not yet anyway. What I can say is that the Peter of the gospels is vastly different from the writer of this epistle. What changed? What happened? The most major event in Peter’s life must have been Pentecost – the descent of the Holy Spirit. The brazen Peter who had the temerity to rebuke Jesus for His prophecy of His own death (Matt. 16:22-23), contrasts greatly with the subdued writing of this letter. Consider v. 3 “His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him Who called us by His own glory and goodness.”

Gospel:

Luke 22:39-53

New Testament:

2 Peter 1:1-11

Old Testament:

Isaiah 8:16—9:1
