Isaiah: Here we see how the LORD redeems and/or disciplines His people. At the outset, let’s remember that if this is true for the Israelites of Isaiah’s day, it is equally true for us today. God uses the threat of the mean Assyrians in an effort to wake up His people. As Christians today, we can easily fall into the same self-complacency as did the Jews of Isaiah’s time. They were warned and so are we. We, the “saved” ones are not above receiving discipline from our Father. Each generation has to learn this hard lesson for itself.
