Psalms: 82, 84

Meditation

Isaiah: Here you go: Maher-shalal-hash-baz – this is the name the LORD tells Isaiah to name his son. Sounds cruel to me when you consider its meaning: The spoil speeds, the prey hastens. (According to the Believer’s Bible Commentary p. 867) points to the destruction of Syria [Damascus] and Israel by Assyria. So, Isaiah names his son with an impending prophecy. What a great name with which to be burdened. (Burden is, many times used by a prophet, to describe a prophecy about to be fulfilled.)

Gospel:

Luke 22:31-38

New Testament:

2 Thess. 3:6-18

Old Testament:

Isaiah 8:1-15
