Psalms: 14, 15
Meditation
2 Peter: If I were to apply a word to describe what Peter is saying here, it would be “watch” or “be vigilant”. He speaks of judgment, certainly the great flood, but also of a time when God’s patience runs low as the sands in an hourglass. Further, Peter warns us that that day will come like a thief. The vigilant believer will always keep watch not to be slacking (like Jesus’ 5 foolish virgins [Matt. 25:1ff]). To be vigilant means to be unsurprised. We all know that the Lord will return (soon!) but when? Put on the armor of God (Eph. 6) and wait – no surprise whenever He comes. (Advent)
