Psalm: 17

Meditation

Luke: “He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were religious and regarded others with contempt.” (v. 9) Well, I don’t like to think that I regard someone less religious than I in contempt. I have fallen victim to some self-complacency when I only wish others were as conscientious as I. It is all a bunch of falderal, but I suspect most of us put on the robes of the Pharisee rather than the armor of God. So, this is all about humility and pride. I know humility when I see it, but like a cloud, I can’t just reach out and grab it!

Gospel:

Luke 18:9-14

New Testament:

James 5:13-20

Old Testament:

Malachi 3:13—4:6
