Psalm: 139

Meditation

Luke: Ever eager to be “nice”, Jesus addresses some well-meaning Pharisees who were warning Him of Herod’s unveiled threat to Jesus. Like John the Baptist, Jesus advances rather than retreats, explaining that He must continue His good work. This is also a reference to His passion, suffering and death. “Today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish My work.” (v. 32) Remember that while on the cross, one of His final words was “It is finished.”

Gospel:

Luke 13:31-35

New Testament:

Revelation 17:1-18

Old Testament:

Ecclus. 50:1, 11-24
