Psalm: 21

Meditation

Revelation: Say what you like about Satan, but what you can’t say is that he is a slouch. Consider, we first encounter him in Eden and here he is still and here he is finally thrown out of heaven only to wreak havoc again on the earth. So, in heaven, there is great celebration, by contrast, on earth, its troubles will only intensify. (“God writes straight with crooked lines.” Attributed to St. Teresa of Avila.) Still Satan tries by attempting to drown the woman and her unborn child. Alas, the earth itself (with God’s help) thwarts Satan’s aim.

Gospel:

Luke 11:53—12:12

New Testament:

Revelation 12:7-17

Old Testament:

Ecclus. 31:12-18, 25—32:2
