Meditation

Sirach: We will be considering this text for the next couple of weeks. What you may notice are numerous similarities to portions of Scripture, most notably Solomon’s Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Both are replete with wisdom as is the text before us. In today’s section I hear an echo from Our Lord in not seeking “a seat of honor” (v. 4) I hear Paul as in verse 10: “Do not grow weary when you pray.” Paul’s version? Pray without ceasing. Like to book of James, this could serve as a handbook for a good life.
