Sirach: Again, I hear echoes of Scripture throughout, and I see a mountain of common sense (which, today, appears to be all but missing). Could Sirach be a Calvinist? Perhaps. One can’t say “It was the LORD’s doing that I fell away.” Obvious and ludicrous. He also speaks somewhat of choice. “If you choose you can keep the commandments…Be-fore each person are life and death and whichever one chooses will be given” (vv. 15, 17) The very thing Moses said (Deut. 30:19)
