Hosea: Verse 1 is cited by Luke as a prophesy linking the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt and the return of the Holy Family to Galilee after the death of Herod the Great. Aside from that, there seems to be a longing or an ache that God has for Israel. We’ve spent much of our consideration of Hosea visualizing the apostasy of Israel. Chapter 10 talks of the imminent capture and dispersal of Israel; these ten tries of the Northern Kingdom will, in time become known as the “lost” tribes of Israel.
