John: Here Jesus reminds us that at His first coming He did not come to judge. The major clue He gives us is: “The one who rejects Me and does not receive My word has a judge; on the last day the word that I have spoken will serve as judge…” (v. 48) John again runs an initial theme from chapter 1 coursing throughout this passage – word.
