John: Here Jesus is speaking to the Jews who had believed in Him. (v. 31) Good to know who is speaking. John tells us that these Jews had believed in Him. As we continue, we will see they believe no longer. “I know that you are descendants of Abraham; yet you look for an opportunity to kill Me, because there is no place for you in My world.” (v. 37) I wonder what caused the change? Jesus then touches the “third rail” here when He tells them they are slaves (dog whistle) of sin.
