Psalms: 28, 29

Meditation

John: This passage marks the opening of the gospel of John. While typically reserved for special occasions like Christmas, today it serves only to launch our look into John’s gospel. I have remarked before that if we have only these 18 verses and no other Scripture, this would be enough to outline the entire Christian message. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (v. 14) To my mind, that one verse is the most profound of all of Scripture so much that we cannot even begin to fathom its depth. For God to limit Himself in human flesh is an act of unfathomable humility.

Gospel:

John 1:1-18

New Testament:

Acts 2:37-47

Old Testament:

Judges 6:25-40
